NEW at Rexnord Innovation Services

Rexnord Innovation Center has provided innovation services and testing services for decades. Our experienced staff keeps abreast of the most cutting edge technologies. Here are a few of the latest additions to our innovation arsenal:

Tribometer

A linear reciprocating pin‐on‐disk (POD) tribometer was recently acquired to help advance RIC engineer's understanding of friction and wear phenomena. The tribometer can quantitatively assess the coefficient of friction between two sliding surfaces and can be used as a high throughput testing tool to screen the friction coefficient or wear rate between many different materials.

SEM

The Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was primarily purchased to perform failure analysis on components and to support the growth of the RIC's analytical metrology capabilities. The SEM can magnify from 30x up to 300,000x, and has a 100x wider depth of field (the distance between objects that are in focus) than traditional light optical microscopes. The SEM is also able to detect differences in composition between adjacent regions and quantify the chemical composition of the samples.

FTIR

The Fourier Transform Infra‐Red (FTIR) spectroscopy Equipment: at the Rexnord Innovation Center was recently upgraded to provide new capabilities. This new instrument can examine the chemical structure of materials such as polymers, coatings, composites, elastomers, lubricants and solvents. This proves to be a very useful tool for vendor validation, competitive analysis, and contamination analysis.

ProJet® 3500 HD Max Professional 3D Printer

To better support clients with product development issues, the Rexnord Innovation Center has acquired a state of the art 3D printer capable of rendering of high quality, functional parts / models which are ideal for functional testing.

This machine has a net build volume of 11.75" x 7.3" x 8", and is capable of using different materials when the application dictates.
