California and Vermont are currently the only states to adopt laws requiring Lead Free plumbing products for the distribution of water for cooking and drinking. The term “Lead Free” has been defined by legislation to mean that a plumbing product contains not more than a weighted average of 0.25% lead on the wetted surfaces.
