Mechanical Testing

Our mechanical engineering services use classical methods of statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, as well as experimental and computational tools to understand components and systems.

The Rexnord Innovation Center test and analysis laboratory is equipped with load frames, servohydraulic actuators and controls, open architecture test beds, environmental chambers, electrodynamic shakers, and other state-of-the-art equipment to meet our customers' test requirements.

Fatigue is involved in up to 70% of all product failures. Testing modes include axial, torsion, bending, radial, oscillatory, or full rotation. We specialize in modifying standard test specifications to simulate actual component use.

Testing Services
  • Standard chain qualification, conformance testing and finite life test (ANSI/ASME B29)
  • 4-square chain wear testing
  • Gear tooth fatigue test
  • Aircraft flight spectrum simulation test (load-motion)
  • Reverse torsion coupling test
  • 4-square coupling test
  • High speed, dynamometer test
  • High speed spin test for axial reaction forces/deflections
  • Plain, spherical and rolling element bearing endurance test
Equipment
  • Load frames: 1k – 300k lbf
  • Spectrum controlled bearing testers: 5k – 100k lbf

The Rexnord Innovation Center offers several ways to perform shock and vibration testing. Our engineers are equipped with a wide range of hydraulic actuators, fixtures, control systems and calibrated measurement instruments. However, it is our experience and ingenuity that customers value most.

We help clients to establish a logical shock and vibration test system, run the tests and assist in any resulting redesign activities. Our closed loop acceleration feedback control can simulate almost any shock or vibration environment that your product may encounter. This includes, but goes well beyond, industry and military shock and vibration testing methods established by IEC, SAE, MIL-STD, ISO, ASTM, RTCA and the Department of Defense (DOD).

Product durability is often the key to marketplace success. Our testing services provide manufacturers with valuable information on strength of materials and mechanical properties. We specialize in adapting standard test specifications to simulate actual component use to evaluate tension and compression flexural properties, density, specific gravity, impact resistance and notch toughness.
