Lightweight Bearings
Shafer® and PSI® bearings have developed lightweight bearings using state-of-the-art lightweight materials, including titanium and ceramics. Titanium rod-ends and housings offer:
• Excellent strength-to-weight properties for applications that require high-strength and lightweight components
• Excellent corrosion resistance
Shafer also offers a hybrid bearing made with ceramic rollers. The ceramic provides:
• Reduced overall weight of the rollers
• Excellent temperature stability
• Superior corrosion resistance
Lightweight bearings and bearing assemblies can be designed in a variety of sizes and configurations to meet your application needs. Please contact our engineering department to discuss the specifics of your application to ensure optimum cost, performance, and reliability.

High-Temperature Bearings
Shafer offers single- and double-row annular bearings designed for applications with environmental temperatures up to 1200°F (650°C). Hight-temperature bearings offer the following features:
• Manufactured with specialty steels
• Assembled of components with advanced surface coatings
• Better load handling capabilities when compared to standard ball bearings of similar size
• Can accommodate installation, and in-service misalignment without sacrificing load handling capability
Examples of applications include:
• Modulating valves to control hot gas flow in different air management systems
• Aircraft temperature control systems
• Anti-icing systems
• Bleed air management valves
High-temperature bearings can be designed in a variety of sizes and configurations to meet your application needs. Please contact our engineering department to discuss the specifics of your application to ensure optimum cost, performance, and reliability.
Extended Maintenance Interval Bearings
Shafer’s Extended Maintenance Interval (E.M.I.) bearings (patent pending) meet new demands for low-maintenance applications. Shafer E.M.I. bearings are capable of operating for 30 months between relubrication. Extended Maintenance Interval bearings include the following features:
Robust Seal Design
• Offers better contamination resistance
• Offers effective protection in a wide range of environments
Stainless Steel Material
• Eliminates internal corrosion as a failure mechanism
Standard Envelope Dimensions and Load Ratings
• Same envelope dimensions and load ratings as existing double row series
• Eliminates design and/or modification costs
Extended Maintenance Bearings and E.M.I. bearing assemblies can be designed in a variety of sizes and configurations to meet your application needs. Please contact our engineering department to discuss the specifics of your application to ensure optimum cost, performance, and reliability.

High-Load Bearings
PSI/Rexnord has formulated this new concept of coating cobalt alloy on materials with high uniform strength such as, but not limited to, precipitation stainless steel alloys (15-5PH, 17-4PH, PH13-8Mo) or super alloys (A-286). Benefits include:
• High-Load Capacity: Load capacity increases 20 to 60% based on size
• Increased Bearing Stiffness: Increases application accuracy and response
• Smaller Envelop: Less fuel burn, lower emissions, more passengers, more cargo
